Never See the Sun Again

Available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple and these other fine booksellers.

In 2085, a monstrously powerful storm, Hurricane Yolanda, swept across Manhattan, laying waste to most of New York City. What was not swept out to sea was left damaged and uninhabitable. Forced to shelter overnight during the storm in the subway, New Yorkers were horrified to discover the next morning that they had no homes left.

In a testament to the tenacity of the human spirit, society reorganized itself, took hold, and began to flourish, tucked away underground, safe from global warming with its powerful storms and blistering heat.

The Federal government, bitterly divided, corrupt and powerless, had run out of money months earlier for FEMA or for rebuilding. With no help coming, New Yorkers stayed underground, spread out along the 840 miles of New York City’s subway system.

Never See the Sun Again is the story of Manny Stewart as he grows into manhood, struggling against an abusive, alcoholic father who is the Chief of Police, set against a backdrop of what life is like 300 years in our future, far beneath the surface, away from the destructive effects of climate change.

Never See the Sun Again is Part One of a two-part series. The book is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple and these other fine booksellers.

Susan is hard at work on Book Two (as yet untitled). Curious about life in the future? Here’s a little teaser for you – here’s how “happy birthday” will be sung, 300 years from now:

Happy birthday to you,

Peace & happiness to you,

May your life be filled with gladness,

Happy birthday to you!
